What is Cold Laser, how does it work, and what can it do for your horse?
With Cold Laser and Laser Acupuncture you can help heal injuries and resolve pain in a variety of acute and chronic conditions at your own yard and in a way that is totally stress free for your horse.
Low level laser treatment optimises natural healing by modulating relevant cell activity with light of controlled wavelengths and energy density. There is a wealth of research on the physiological effects of low level laser therapy using Class 3B lasers such as the Omega System used by Equibliss .
It can be safely used on horses and people to help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce spasm and increase functionality. Research carried out at Guy’s Hospital in London and the University of Ulster has shown improved reduction with scar tissue, anti inflammatory response, pain relief, faster healing with stronger tissue ,improved cell metabolism and stimulation of the immune response.
In addition, Laser Acupuncture is a safe and highly effective way to treat Equine Acupuncture points in a way the horse is happy with and without the risk of lost needles .It can be used to improve the horse’s health by supporting digestive health, balancing the emotions, relieving soreness and helping the immune system and also after kissing spine surgery to assist with healing.
The laser is a handheld device, and is placed directly over the injured area or acupoint for 15 seconds to a minute, depending on the treatment protocol, the size of the area being treated and the dose provided by the Cold Laser unit. A real benefit to the horse is that not only is it fast, pain-free and non-invasive, but it offers excellent results in pain-relief, wound healing and soft-tissue repair.
